The Roche Young Scientist Award (RYSA) programme was launched in Hong Kong in 2012. It is a science competition and mentorship programme that aims to encourage secondary school students to use their science acumen and innovative thinking to solve daily health issues. RYSA also aims to shine a spotlight on the importance of innovation and science education, and uncover the science talent of youngsters in Hong Kong. Since its inception, over 500 students from more than 100 schools have participated. The RYSA 2017 winning team will receive an educational trip to visit Roche headquarters in Switzerland, where they will meet experienced scientists and participate in real laboratory experiments.

Roche runs this programme once every two years, and RYSA 2017 is the third time the event has been organised. For more information on the 2017 competition, please go to www.rysa.com.hk.
